Israeli Security Fence - Sharansky Event

On Friday, March 5th 2004, over 400 international students, representing over 20 institutions in Israel, joined Minister for Jerusalem and Diaspora Affairs Natan Sharansky on a seminar / tour of the Israeli Security Fence. The event started with speeches by both Minister Sharansky and Ministry of Foreign Affairs Speaker Daniel Taub. The students were than bussed to Gilo to view the security fence. Our final destination was to Abu Dis in East Jerusalem to view the wall (which makes up only 5% of the security fence) where the 14A bus which was bombed in Feb was placed.

The event was organized by NAJSA's US Coordinator, Dani Klein, who is interning for Minister Natan Sharansky's office for the Spring 2004 semester. Aryeh Green, advisor to Minister Sharansky, worked heavily on this project and continues to further initiatives involving student activism.

The event was co-sponsored by the Ministry for Jerusalem and Diaspora Affairs, Yavneh Olami, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
